National Medical Association Announces Publishing Agreement with Elsevier
Journal of the National Medical Association to be published by Elsevier
Maryland, February 15, 2016 – The National Medical Association, (NMA), has selected Elsevier to publish the Journal of the National Medical Association (JNMA), on global platform as of January 2016. JNMA is the official peer-reviewed publication of the NMA.
Published since 1909, JNMA, whose purpose is to address healthcare disparities of persons of African descent, will be published 4-times a year by one of the world-leading providers of scientific, technical and medical information products and services. Elsevier.
JNMA is focused on specialized clinical research activities related to the health outcomes of African Americans and other minority groups. Special emphasis is placed on the application of medical science to improve the healthcare of underserved populations both in the United States and abroad. The Journal has the following objectives: (1) to expand the base of original peer-reviewed literature and the quality of that research on the topic of minority health; (2) to provide greater dissemination of this research; (3) to offer appropriate and timely recognition of the significant contributions of physicians who serve these populations; and (4) to promote engagement by member and non-member physicians in the overall goals and objectives of the National Medical Association.
The Journal of the National Medical Association has since its introduction in 1908, served as a method of dissemination of clinical information to physicians and other medical providers. This new platform will allow for greater enhancement of the educational process, said Edith Mitchell, M.D., President, of The National Medical Association.
“We are very pleased and honored to begin working with the National Medical Association on their important, high-quality journal. As the publisher of JNMA, the NMA’s flagship journal, we will help the journal grow in content, readership, and global influence,” said Sarah Barth, Publisher, Health and Medical Science Journals at Elsevier.
