National Medical Association Statement on FDA Guidance on Sodium in Processed Food

Silver Spring, MD (June 2, 2016) – The National Medical Association applauds the Food and Drug Administration’s released this week, the draft guidance to the food industry on reducing sodium in processed and restaurant foods.  This action can have a significant health benefit for African-American men and women who suffer from a greater burden of hypertension and stroke mortality than the general population.  In August 2015, the NMA’s House of Delegates passed a resolution calling on FDA to release this guidance.  Click here for the resolution.
